Bid

The bid is the highest price a buyer is currently willing to pay for an instrument. All the bids together form the buy side of the order book.

Buyers who do not want to pay the sellers’ price leave a bid and wait. The best bid is the highest of them, and it is the price you get if you sell immediately. The gap between the best bid and the best ask is the spread, a cost you pay on every trade.

Every bid rests in the order book until a seller accepts it or the buyer cancels it.
