Ask

The ask, also called the offer, is the lowest price a seller is currently willing to accept for an instrument. All the asks together form the sell side of the order book.

Sellers who do not want to accept the buyers’ price leave an ask and wait. The best ask is the lowest of them, and it is the price you pay if you buy immediately. The gap between the best bid and the best ask is the spread.

A buy order bigger than the size waiting at the best ask fills at the next asks up, so a large order pays more than the price on the screen.
