Funding interval

The funding interval is how often a perpetual futures contract exchanges funding between longs and shorts: every 8, 4 or 1 hours, depending on the contract and the exchange.

The interval decides how many times a day you pay or receive the funding rate: 3 times every 8 hours, 6 times every 4 hours, 24 times every hour. The same 0.01% rate costs 0.03% of the position a day at 8 hours and 0.24% at 1 hour. On 13 October 2026, 453 of Binance’s 881 USDT perpetuals settled every 4 hours or every hour, not every 8, and Binance can switch a contract to hourly when its rate hits the cap. Bybit uses 1, 4 and 8 hours. The contract page shows the interval and a countdown to the next payment.
