Linear scale
A linear price scale spaces equal dollar steps equally: a move of $1,000 is the same height on the chart whether price is at 10,000 or at 80,000.
It is the default on most charts, and it is the honest choice when the chart covers a narrow range of prices, such as a day or a week. Over long histories it misleads: Bitcoin’s 2019 rise of 317%, from 3,349.92 to 13,970, looks like a small bump on a linear chart of 2018 to 2026.
