Rejection

A rejection is a move to a price that the market does not accept: price trades there, then returns before the candle closes, leaving a long wick.

The prices inside a rejection really traded, but by the close price had left them behind. On 2 October 2026 Bitcoin rose to 87,250, just under a level at 87,385, and closed the day at 84,483: about 71% of the day’s range was rejected at the top. A rejection only counts once the candle has closed, because until then price can come back and fill the wick in.
