Candle

A candle is the short name for a candlestick: one period of a candlestick chart, with a body from open to close and wicks to the high and the low.

Traders count time in candles: a daily chart has one candle per day, an hourly chart one per hour. “The candle closed above the level” means the period ended above it. A candle with almost no body, open and close nearly equal, is called a doji. See candlestick for how to read one.
