Wick

A wick (also called a shadow) is the thin line above or below a candle's body. The upper wick reaches the period's high, the lower wick its low.

A wick shows how far price went in that period and then gave back. A long upper wick means price rose and was pushed back down; a long lower wick means it fell and was bought back. On 2 October 2026 Bitcoin’s daily upper wick was 2,420 dollars long, reaching up to a level at 87,385 before the day closed at 84,483. A candle that opened at its low has no lower wick.
