Abnormal candle
An abnormal candle is a candle at least 1.8 times the average daily range (ATR). It shows a big player or a big event at work, and when it runs into a level it is a symptom of a bounce.
On the daily charts of Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and Solana from October 2024 to October 2026, only 9% of days reached 1.8 ATR or more. A very large one: on 10 October 2025 Bitcoin’s daily candle was 6.8 times its ATR; it stopped at 101,516.50 and closed 11,198 higher, leaving a level behind.
