CHARTTHREAD

Timeframe

A timeframe is the amount of time one candle covers on a chart: 5 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day. Changing the timeframe does not change the market, only how finely the same trades are sliced.

Timeframes nest inside each other. In a market that trades around the clock, one daily candle holds 24 one-hour candles and 288 five-minute candles, and its high is the highest of all of them. On 14 October 2026 Alphabet’s perpetual on Bybit made its daily high of 359.92 in a single five-minute candle at 13:50 UTC.
